I believe we create beauty through a language of arts (writing, painting, music, dance and visual arts)
to mimic or celebrate (I like to say) the beauty in nature,
we ARE nature,
this is all seen as separate - ourselves, what we create and nature,
it isn't.
its a connecting to nature, OUR innate connection with nature, we are part of it.
The awe and wonder of how it works.
We can use science to understand it to a certain extent,
Looking back at my drawings/paintings and installations I've made i see this illustration of an effort to connect more with nature, a looking out from a concrete strict conforming world where other things like money are more important than fields and being a nice person. Just this connecting to it is important to me and is important to all humans as we are all part of the ecosystem.
This is why creativity is important as if "we do not value beauty or creativity then we ignore a vital ingredient in the well being of the world. None of us can survive if the underlying well being is destroyed."
"Our ability to see beauty in Nature is entirely consequential on our being a part of Nature Herself. In other words Nature is the source, not us."
From Harmony by HRH Prince of Wales
We started to draw to communicate, celebrate but all this creating we do now mounts up to be waste, i want to look at this and find a way to be creative as this is nature to us but keeping in harmony with the earth.
"to bear the burden and responsibility of human intelligence we need a world of beauty for the healing it gives"
Thomas Berry, from The Dark Mountain project
maybe beauty is harmony???
